South Australia - Brilliant Blend

Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln is the Eyre Peninsula's second largest city, set on the shores of Boston Bay, Australia's largest natural harbour. A magnificent marina development, Lincoln Cove, is home to the tuna fishing fleets of the Great Australian Bight.

Port Lincoln offers a myriad of holiday ideas, from fishing and sailing, to diving with great white sharks, touring aquaculture industries and exploring the area's sheltered beaches and booming surf. Seafood is always on the menu, with seasonal specialities including southern rock lobster, western king prawns and oysters.

Whyalla

The lookout of Hummock Hill, first noted by Captain Matthew Flinders while navigating Spencer Gulf in 1802, is a useful place to get your bearings. It also provides a good view of Whyalla, the seaside surrounds of which enjoys 300 days of sunshine each year.

Whyalla is also home to one of South Australia's most intriguing phenomena. Between May and August each year, hundreds of thousands of giant cuttlefish gather to spawn in and around a small area along the rocky shores of Black Point and Point Lowly, providing a spectacle for scuba divers.

Port Pirie

Port Pirie

Port Pirie is one of South Australia's best-kept secrets, just a short detour from National Highway One, nestled at the base of the picturesque Southern Flinders Ranges.

South Australia's first provincial city, Port Pirie has taken a leading role in South Australia's agricultural and industrial development. But it's also rapidly gaining kudos for its diversity of tourism experiences.

Renmark

It's a place where citrus fruits and stone fruits are grown in lush fields, where the mighty Murray River courses through deep limestone canyons, where world class wines are grown alongside wetlands filled with wildlife.

There's fresh fish, fresh food, and the fresh spray of river water as you waterski behind a jet boat.

Even the simple pleasure of sitting on the banks of the river with a fishing line and a cold drink is something refreshing.

Adelaide

Adelaide

There's a café on East Rundle Street where every inch of wall space is papered with event posters. There are at least a hundred of them - posters for sporting events, local gigs, drama performances, the opera, art festivals, carnivals for kids.

Not unusual for a café looking for a bit of ambience, you might think - until you realise that all the posters are for things that are happening that month.

This is Adelaide - a city where there's always something on.

Adelaide's generous boulevards and elegant architecture provide the perfect backdrop for all sorts of activities. No matter what takes your interest, there's something that will pique your curiosity.
